Hewlett Packard Joins Bio-IT-Nano Institute in California
HP becomes the first industry to join the Bio-IT-Nano Research and Development Institute (BIN-RDI), a collaborative venture that is focused on the converging fields of biotechnology, information technology, and nanotechnology. As an industrial partner, HP will assist the Institute in developing programs and policies. The lead driver for the BIN-RDI is UCSC through its NASA Research Park (NRP)-based Silicon Valley Center. The BIN-RDI provides research space for R&D and intellectual property is shared among participating universities, companies, and government agencies. In addition to its current projects focused on biotech and information technology, the Institute is also planning to establish a Nano-Science Policy Institute.
