Nanotechnology Could Aid in Development of Artifical Retina
This month, researchers from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston (UTMB) and the University of Michigan have created a direct electrical link between nerve cells and photovoltaic nanoparticle films. This innovative nanomaterial has the capability to be more efficient and better adaptable compared to light signals transported via silicon. According to the research teams, the application of nanoparticles to a light-stimulated nerve device could lead to several valuable applications, such as a nano-artifical retin or a new way to connect limbs.
