Japanese Research Institution and Company Collaborate on Innovative CNT Manufacturing
Japan's National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) and Zeon Corporation announced this month that their joint efforts have produced a technology able to synthesize a large number of single-wall carbon nanotubes directly onto a large metal plate. The organizations’ co-developed novel technology has a “super-growth” system; the single-walled CNTs are grown upright on metal foil and in ten minutes can form a 1 mm high structure. They also report that the speed at which they have the CNTs grow does not take away from its purity and ability to be placed in a precise surface area.
