University Researchers Create Innovative Nanotube/Nanowire Combination for Electronic Devices
A research team at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute has formed hybrid nanomaterials that combine the properties of carbon nanotubes and metal nanowires. The group claims the novel structures could help address some current hurdles to using carbon nanotubes in many electronic devices. The approach created by RPI researchers allows carbon nanotubes to be precisely attached to metal pins, which offers a promising solution to using carbon nanotubes as interconnects in devices. This research was funded by grants received from the NSF and the Focus Center New York for Electronic Interconnects.
