Public Meeting Convened by U.S. Government Focuses On Issues Related to Engineered Nanoscale Materials

The National Nanotechnology Initiative (NNI) started the new year by convening a public meeting on Research Needs related to the Environmental, Health, and Safety Aspects of Engineered Nanoscale Materials. More than 100 attendees and fifteen speakers focused on discussing and addressing the risks and benefits of nanoengineered materials for various consumer products. The input from the public meeting will be used to prepare the government’s recommended priorities for safety-related research on nanomaterials, which will serve as a guide for other agencies that fund research in the field.
