CNTs May Become Integral Part of Next Generation TVs
Samsung’s laboratory arm, The Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology, is looking at carbon nanotubes for LCD TVs. The Institute has created a 15-inch prototype LCD screen that uses an array of CNTs to light up images on the screen. The CNTs would replace current sources of light for screens (bulbs and light-emitting diodes). The company believes the integration of CNTs in an LCD TV would help decrease the cost, improve performance, and enhance picture quality.
