Novel Microscope Probes Electronic Nanostructures
The JILA Institute has developed a new type of scanning microscopy that reveals simultaneously the physical and electronic profiles of metal nanostructures. JILA is a joint institute of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and University of Colorado at Boulder. The scanning microscopy demonstrated by JILA will be particularly useful in studying nanoparticles and nanoelectronics. Additional supporters of the research include the National Science Foundation and the Air Force Office of Scientific Research.
