Samsung Adds 300-mm line to US Fab
Samsung Electronics plans to invest more than $200 million to construct a new 300-mm standalone fab at its facility in Austin, Texas. Construction will begin later this year. Samsung currently operates a 200-mm facility in Austin, which opened in the late 1990s. Within the next 6 years, the company said it plans to invest $33 billion in new manufacturing facilities, research centers and equipment. At this time, Samsung is not providing details about this new fab.
