Leading US Research Center Creates Inventory of Nano-Based Consumer Goods On the Market
The Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars has created a fairly expansive database of the most recent nanoproduct launches to reach the market. The database includes 212 products, of which 14% (30 products) fall under the personal care category. Leading the world in the launch and production of nano-based consumer products is the United States with 126 products. Asia was second with 42 products in the database, followed by Europe with 35. According to the Center’s inventory, of the nanomaterials being used in products, nano-engineered carbon is the most commonly used, followed by silver then silica. The nanotech products inventory was assembled as part of the Center's Project on Emerging Nanotechnologies.
