Particle Technology Laboratory, Institute of Process Engineering, CH

Keywords: nanoparticles, catalysts, sensors, superparamagnetic carriers, biomaterials

Abstract:

This lecture highlights some of the most exciting recent developments in this field. A number of young companies have been created focusing on niche applications. Established industries position themselves in this technology given their proven capacity to scaleably produce nanoparticles at attractive prices. That way devices can be built with nanoparticle components at competitive prices to penetrate and develop new products and markets. At the same time, issues dealing with health effects of nanoparticles are systematically investigated through close interaction between engineering and health scientists relying on established scientific disciplines to properly design sustainable manufacturing of nanostructured products.
