Abstract:

By relying on previously approved light water design technology – supported by a one-third scale electrically heated prototype test facility, NuScale’s plant also minimizes regulatory and technology risks. Additionally, by building the plant in smaller units, idle US manufacturing capability can be utilized, thereby avoiding international manufacturing “choke points” which currently limit the production capacity for large conventional plants.
