Abstract:
In this study, we investigated the ONOO- and NO. scavenging potential of CeO2 nanoparticles. APF assays demonstrate the ability of CeO2 NPs to interact with ONOO- and prevent APF oxidation in a dose dependant manner. Spectrophometric results indicate that CeO2 NPs directly interact with ONOO-. Results from the hemoglobin assay showed that as NO• was released, CeO2 NPs did not prevent NO• from reacting with HbO2. When cells were pre-treated for 72 h with CeO2 NPs, the cultures showed protection from nitrative stress.
