High efficient dye-sensitized solar cell based on morphology controlled carbon nanotube electrode

Abstract:

Here, we report that the carbon nanotubes (CNTs) with different morphologies based counter electrodes are better for dye-sensitize solar cell (DSSC) compare to the conventional platinum and graphite electrode. Multi wall and single wall CNTs with different diameter along with different alignments are demonstrated in this work which shows an improved redox properties at the counter electrode associated with better charge transport at the interfaces of a DSSC. Carbon nanotubes are very distinct material for electrode applications as it has very high surface to volume ratio, ballistic transport and large surface conductivity. We show electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) in forward bias with the variation of different bias voltage under dark field which is an indirect method of measuring the kinetics of charge transport and charge recombination process at the CE-EI interfaces
