Scottish Development International (SDI) is the international division of Scottish Enterprise which is Scotland's main economic development agency, funded by the Scottish Government.
SDI's aim is to broaden Scotland's international appeal as a first choice source of knowledge and to assist the growth of the Scottish economy, by encouraging inward investment and helping Scottish-based companies develop international trade - to date around 1,500 leading global companies, including Amazon, 02, Dell, and Wyeth, have invested in Scotland.
In addition, Scotland has been named as the European Region of the Future 2008 by the Financial Times fDi (Foreign Direct Investment) magazine, beating 38 other European Regions for the title. This is the second time Scotland has won this prestigious annual award in the last 4 years and it is also currently the UK Region of the Future 2007; and Europe's Region with the best Human Resources.
