Ravi Shanker is Corporate Director for Ventures and Business Development. In this role he works in partnership with the Market Facing businesses, PP&C businesses and the Corporate Innovation Team to help to define and execute the growth priorities for the company.
In his history with Dow, Ravi has held a variety of technical and commercial roles. He joined Dow in 1991 after graduating with a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Delaware, and B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering from B.I.T. Sindri, in India.
He began his career in the Research Assignments Program in Dow where he focused on developing manufacturing processes for new products. After assignments in Corporate R&D he joined the Corporate Growth Strategy Center. In this role he worked on Corporate Growth Strategy and in evaluating and launching various projects.
In May 2004 Ravi was named Director of Global Business Development where he supported the Office of the Chief Executive and the Chemical and Plastics portfolios to consider strategic scenarios for both near and long term business opportunities especially in emerging markets.
In 2005, Ravi was named Business Director for Specialty Copolymers within the Specialty Plastics & Elastomers portfolio. He was named to his current role in November 2007.
