Abstract: This research was designed to investigate thermal hydrolysis characteristics of dewatered sewage sludge. The study involved the laboratory experiments with test condition including reaction temperature(150~200 ) and reaction time(1~5hr), under pressure condition more than saturated water vapor pressure. The results of the experiments show that thermal hydrolysis enhances the dewaterability and solubilization signifidcantly. The cause of this result attributed to a destruction of the sludge flocs and cell wall by thermal hydrolysis.
