Depolymerization of waste plastics and other related feedstocks could play an important role in converting them to useful products like diesel like fuels, paraffin and other grade waxes and base lubricating oils that could be used for producing commercial grade lubricationg oils for use in automobiles etc. There are over 40 catalysts that have been reported in the literature that could perform the functions enumerated above. In the laboratory scale in a batch reactor the process for producing paraffin and other waxes has neen well established using a catalyst that has a life of over one year and 100% selectivity for the solid product. The other catalyst developed has 100 % selectivity for the liquid product i.e. base lube oil. A number of catalysts exist for producing diesel like fuels. The above area has great potential for getting rid of the menace of waste plastics and ewaste that manking at large is facing today.
