Abstract: Surface coatings of nanoparticles that possess antiviral properties have been tested by a nano scratch method for their adhesive strength to metallic and polymeric substrates. The deformed coatings were observed in an SEM and values for the bond strength between the nanoparticles and the substrate surfaces has been obtained. The results are being used to determine the processing conditions for the production of artefacts that have antiviral properties such as air filtration elements and surfaces that pose a risk to the transmission of viral infections.
