Fabrication of magnetic Co-Ferrite-SiO2 nanoparticles using Hydroxyapatite (HAp) as templates for nanomedicine

In this described a method to synthesize magnetic cobalt ferrite nanoparticles into hydroxyapatite (HAp) by controlling its size and magnetic properties for application in hyperthermia and drug delivery. The results suggest that the use of HAp as the medium for synthesis of SiO2 coated by CoFe2O4 limits the distribution of ferrite particle size in- homogeneously with average of 10-20 nm. The methods used to determine the crystalline structure indicated that the cobalt ferrite particles that were coated by silica had a nanometric size.
