Evolution of Phage Display Towards Nanobiotechnology
Auburn University, US
Phage display rests on combinatorial chemistry and fusion phage concepts. Fusion of the major coat protein with random peptides resulted in landscape phage libraries—a rich source of molecular recognition interfaces for diagnostics, detection, gene- and drug-delivery systems, matrixes for directed inorganic synthesis. The evolution of the phage display from studying of protein-protein interaction toward the directed assemblage of nanostructures will be described.
