Abstract:
nSolgel has created methods that convert fly ash, the waste product of coal-fired electric generation, into a cement substitute called “zeroCrete”. While conventional cement production is energy-intensive and is responsible for 5% of the world’s carbon dioxide emissions, zeroCrete uses little energy and releases no carbon dioxide in its production. This new product has the potential to significantly reduce energy use, greenhouse gas emissions and landfill space, while delivering equal or better performance than Portland cement.
