Keywords:
Packaged products carry microbial contamination from pre-packaging contamination hazards, such as product mishandling and cross-contamination prior to packaging. For example, packaged meats, poultry, produce, or medical instruments, can be contaminated with pathogens or other microbial contamination during handling or processing prior to being packaged. Our proprietary process treats packaged product with ozone created in the package using ultraviolet energy radiated in the package. The ultraviolet energy also provides antimicrobial treatment to the product in the package. This combined treatment of product in our customizable packaging and package storage process provides sanitizing, disinfecting, and sterilizing antimicrobial treatment of product inside the package. Once treated the product is protected by the package from external contamination hazards. This technology will serve many different markets seeking a simple, low cost, and environmentally friendly process to provide significant logarithmic reduction in microbial counts in packaged products. Besides the food industry, at various stages of product distribution and storage, the technology may be useful to the medical industry, the pharmaceutical industry, and the government

Abstract:
New patented technology with many applications. A customizable packaging and package storage process provides sanitizing, disinfecting, and sterilizing antimicrobial treatment of product inside a package. Our process combines the oxidizing effect of ozone and the antimicrobial effect of ultraviolet radiation energy, both applied to product inside a package.
