Abstract: Directly irradiated solar receiver whose efficiency and working fluid exit temperature are maximized. The gas in the receiver chamber is heated to the highest temperatures at a small region in the receiver chamber, whereas most of the chamber temperature is significantly lower, therefore reducing re-radiation losses from the walls.
