Label-free Single-molecule Counting of Biological Binding Events
L.C. Brousseau, E.W. Miles Quantum Logic Devices, US
Keywords: nanoelectronic, single electron transistors, diagnostics, medicine
Abstract: By coupling biological receptors in lieu of a gate electrode to a single electron transistor, a label-free, real-time detection capability is created for molecular counting. The technology enables highly sensitive quantification of analyte concentration as well as direct observation of molecular binding dynamics without the expensive overhead and complexity of optical methods. Presented will be the results of studies of IL-6, TNF-alpha, Epo, and IGF-1: useful markers for numerous stress-induced metabolic conditions.
