Ultrathin silica-based combustion chemical vapour deposition layers as conversion and adhesion primer coatings on advanced wire products
K. Van Hege, R. Groenen NV Bekaert SA, BE
Keywords: advanced wire product, CCVD, adhesion, silica, primer
Abstract: For many advanced wire products (AWPs), adhesion is a critical parameter which often determines the overall performance of the final wire/polymer composite. As a result, a number of advanced liquid phase adhesion systems have been developed in recent years and satisfactory adhesion levels can now be achieved towards a wide array of coating systems (thermoplastic polymers, lacquers and paints). The presentation embodies the use of combustion chemical vapour deposition (CCVD) as an alternative gas-phase technology for the deposition of ultrathin adhesion primer layers on AWPs.
