Abstract: We demonstrate a standoff passive sensor working in the near infrared range. The device uses a platform based on dielectric and metallo-dielectric layers. The sensor demonstrated a significant change in the reflection coefficient if exposed to the HCl vapors. Such sensor can be used as a standoff detector to probe toxic chemical spills or other hazardous gases and vapors to monitor the situation remotely.
