Pirelli Labs S.p.A. was founded in 2001 as the advanced research company of the Pirelli Group and represents the Group’s innovation engine, having as mission the growth of knowledge, experience, information and technical / scientific data owned by the Pirelli Group.
The majority of the researchers came from the most advanced R&D laboratories of Pirelli Cavi e Sistemi, a well-known company for its R&D skills, among others, in the photonic field.
Pirelli Labs is active in Research focused on mid and long-term industrial applications as well as in Development activities for the introduction of new products and for their evolution. Pirelli Labs Optical Innovation division is focused on systems and components for access, metro and long distance networks. The company has the skills and the facilities to develop advanced next generation solutions for the optical networks.
