John Kunhart

John Kunhart

Managing Director and Co-founder, American River Ventures

John brings a quarter-century of broad-range experiences starting new ventures and working in major corporations to complement his investment background. Before co-founding American River Ventures, John was an active seed-stage investor. He was a co-founder of Professional Solutions, Inc. (PSI), a multimillion dollar IT consulting and staffing company where he was Vice President of Sales & Marketing. John was responsible for the sale of PSI to Iron Mountain, where he served on the executive committee as Director of National Sales. Before founding PSI, John held senior technical and marketing positions with IBM, Tandem, and Boeing Computer Services. During his tenure at IBM, John was a key contributor to the launch of what is now IBM Global Services.

John regularly applies his first-hand experience to helping portfolio companies with important decisions and introductions - leveraging expertise in management, marketing, strategic planning, consulting, software development, and project management. He offers guidance from years of working in software development, implementation and productizing services to help his portfolio companies expand their product portfolios to meet present and future customer needs, strengthen their customer base and, ultimately, grow revenue - a challenge for early-stage companies.

John’s current board memberships include Clairvoyante, intelliDOT, Incuity and SpectraSensors. He also serves as a board member for the Golden Capital Network.

In addition to spending time with family and friends (including his adorable twin daughters!), John also enjoys boating, snow-skiing, tennis, golf, and traveling.

John holds a B.S. in Computer Science from Seattle Pacific University.

Speaking in Cleantech 2007.
