The INL is a science and engineering based national laboratory dedicated to meeting the nation’s environmental, energy, nuclear technology, and national security needs.
The INL is one of nine multi-program national laboratories owned by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). The laboratory is operated by Battelle Energy Alliance (BEA) under the direction of DOE.
The INL stands out as a unique national and international resource. From its vantage at the confluence of basic science and applied engineering, its staff of scientists, engineers, and support personnel build on the potential and promise of the theoretical for the benefit of the real world. INL is home to one of the largest concentrations of technical professionals in the northern Rocky Mountain region and has some of the most advanced research programs in the world.
