University of Massachusetts Lowell

The University of Massachusetts Lowell is home to the NSF-funded Center for High-rate Nanomanufacturing(CHN) and the Nanomanufacturing Center of Excellence(NCOE).

The research targets novel nanomanufacturing processes, bridging the gap between research and commercially-viable manufacturing. Nanomanufacturing research includes: nanoelectronics (optics/photonics/NEMS), nanomedicines (drug and cosmeceutical delivery, sensors, imaging), metamaterials, environmentally benign manufacturing, electrospinning, injection-molding of 3-dimensional nanofeatures, nanolayered coextrusion, nanocomposites, and template-directed, self-assembly of nanoelements (nanotubes, polymers) for biosensors, flexible electronics, etc.

Industry can participate in cutting edge developments through sponsored research projects or membership in research thrusts. Our corporate partners benefit by reduced time-to-market for new and novel nanoproducts and processes.
