Nanotechnology at Raymor |
| Stéphane Robert
President and CEO Raymor Industries
| Stéphane Robert is President and CEO of Raymor Industries (RAR: TSX Venture Exchange). Since joining Raymor in 1996, and entering into his current functions in 1997, Mr. Robert is solely responsible for the refocusing of the company’s activities from “resource-based” to “technology-driven” in the area of advanced materials, nanomaterial, and ultimately, nanotechnology. Having raised C$15M for Raymor, Mr. Robert has led the company’s efforts to acquire over 20 advanced material and nanomaterial patents, including the highly scalable, plasma-based process to produce single-walled carbon nanotubes, a material which will be the technology platform for a multitude of applications in aerospace, defense, electronics, and consumer goods, just to name a few. Through Mr. Robert’s leadership, Raymor has assembled a team of internationally renowned experts in the thermal plasma, material science and carbon nanotubes fields. Mr. Robert is the founding president of AP&C Advanced Powders & Coatings Inc., Raymor’s wholly-owned subsidiary focused on the supply of spherical metallic powders, thermal spray coating and nanocoating services, and net-shape forming technology for high value-added applications in the aerospace, defense, biomedical, energy and other industrial sectors. Mr. Robert graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Science (Geophysics) from the University of Laval in 1987. Before joining Raymor, and after initially pursuing his career in his area of study in Canada and West Africa, Mr. Robert oriented his sharp entrepreneurial skills towards the financing and acquisition of mining properties and high technology industrial projects for public and private companies. With Raymor, Mr. Robert has negotiated several partnerships, including agreements with SOQUEM (1998), McGill University (1999), PyroGenesis (2004), and INRS (2005).
