Computer Modeling and Simulation of Soft Nanostructured Materials

Hans Fraaije

Hans Fraaije

Culgi Group,
Leiden University, The Netherlands

Johannes G.E.M. Fraaije obtained his PhD in Physical and Colloid Chemistry from the Wageningen Agricultural University in 1987. After a Postdoc at the College de France (Physics of Condensed Matter), he started his industrial modeling career in the Department of Applied Physics of Akzo Nobel. Since then, he has maintained strong interest in developing novel computational methods for practical problems. He is the inventor of the mesoscale modeling package Mesodyn (1990-2000) for polymer blends and solutions, and, since 2004, of the Chemistry Unified Language Interface (Culgi) modeling library for general formulation problems. Since 1999 he has a chair in Physical Chemistry at Leiden University.

Speaking in the special symposium on Nanostructured Fluids, Soft Materials, and Self-Assembly.
