Davies William de Lima Monteiro has background education in Physics and did his PhD in Microelectronics and Adaptive Optics. He worked several years at Delft University of Technology (The Netherlands) on the development of adaptive optical systems and on potentially low-cost components. He is now associate professor at Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (Brazil), where he coordinates the Laboratory for Optronics and Microtechnology Applications (OptMA_lab, www.cpdee.ufmg.br/~optma). His current interests involve image sensors, adaptive optics, solar cells and opto-medical instrumentation.
