| Jennifer A. Lewis
Hans Thurnauer Professor of Materials Science and Engineering Willett Faculty Scholar of Engineering University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA
| Jennifer Lewis’ group focuses on the structure, properties, and assembly of soft materials comprised of colloidal, nanoparticle, and polymeric building blocks. She is the Hans Thurnauer Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). She has garnered several awards for her research, including the NSF Presidential Faculty Fellow Award (1994), the Brunaeur Award from the American Ceramic Society (2003), and Fellow of the American Ceramic Society (2005). She serves as an Associate Editor of the Journal of the American Ceramic Society and on the Editorial Advisory Boards of Langmuir and Soft Matter. Her research has been featured on the cover of multiple journals and highlighted in several magazines including Materials Today, The Economist, The Technology Review, Lab on a Chip, The Scientist, C&E News, and Photonics Spectra. Her research was also recently cited by Chemical&Engineering News as one of the top discoveries in materials chemistry (2002) and highlighted in Science&Vie as a nanoscale image of the year (2004). Speaking in the special symposium on Nanostructured Fluids, Soft Materials, and Self-Assembly.
