| Massimo Noro
Physical and Chemical Insight Group Unilever R&D Port Sunlight, UK
| Massimo Noro is a research scientist at Unilever R&D Port Sunlight, the major research laboratory of Unilever based in the North West of the UK. Born and raised in Northern Italy, he graduated with Honours from Università degli Studi di Padova. After obtaining his Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry at UCLA in 1998, he spend two years in Amsterdam as a Marie Curie Fellow, sponsored by the European Community, at the Institute for Atomic and Molecular Physics (FOM-AMOLF). The scientific research to which Dr. Noro dedicated the first part of his professional career led to several publications and an international reputation in the fields of materials modelling, statistical mechanics, Monte Carlo methods, phase diagram calculations, and thermodynamic theory. Joining Unilever R&D Port Sunlight in 2000, he focussed on the bridge between research and the industrial application of mesoscale modelling holding different science and management positions, most latterly, from 2004, Head of the Modelling Team. His interest are diverse and range from mesoscale modelling of complex fluids, to developing analytical tools for decision frameworks in project management in supply chain-related problems. Speaking in the special symposium on Nanostructured Fluids, Soft Materials, and Self-Assembly.
