Gated Nanoelectronic Biomolecular Field-Effect Transistor (BioFET) Sensor

Abstract:
We present a silicon nanowire device which functions as an ultra-sensitive biosensor. Consisting of a silicon nanowire coupled to a set of electrostatic control gates, this biomolecular FET can detect the miniscule conductance changes associated with the binding of a target molecule. In addition to the preliminary data, we also present a phenomelogical model which describes the dynamics of the device as it interacts with its biological environment.
