Nonlinear Oscillators as Nanomechanical Memory

Abstract:
We present the development of a nonlinear nanomechanical oscillator whose binary characteristics encourage its development as a novel memory element. Due to their small size, high natural resonance frequencies, and durable mechanical properties, this and related nonlinear nanomechanical structures present compelling alternatives for low-cost, low-power, high-speed, and fully-integrable memory elements for the coming decades.
