nanotoxicology, nanoparticles, nanotubes, environmental health, human health, risk assessment

Abstract:
The growing field of nanotechnology has lead to an unprecedented research and development effort in both the academic and the private sector. However, very little is known about the interaction of man-made nanostructures materials and living organisms. It is of utmost importance that companies working with nanometer-sized matter take appropriate precautions to protect their staff, the environment and the customer during every step of the R&D process. The session gives a case study of the implementation of novel safety regulations and precautions in a small company that recently engaged in nanotechnology R&D.
