Effects of Coordinate agents on the configuration and property of Nanocrystalline Silver doped Titania

Abstract:
In the present work, we utilized different coordinate agents to direct the synthesis of nanocrystalline silver doped titania with different configuration and properties. As shown in Figure1, autoclaving TiCl4 aqueous solution without any coordinate agents or in the presence of acetic acid led to the formation of titania with pure rutile phase, whereas in the case of tartaric acid, citric acid, proopylenedi-aminetetraacetic acid (PDTA) or L-lysine, pure anatase titania was obtained. However, utilizing ethylenedi-aminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) as structure-directing agents resulted in the formation of meso-microporous titania with a bicrystalline (anatase and rutile) phase composition (Figure 2). The ratio of anatase to rutile could be readily tuned by the use of different sodium salts of EDTA for example replacing EDTA with disodium salt of EDTA (d-EDTA), the phase contents of anatase increased from 52.3 to 85.3 while in the presence of tetrasodium salt of EDTA (t-EDTA), pure anatase titania was obtained.
