Abstract:
NanoSpire’s nanofabrication technology is based on cavitation, a boiling phenomenon that involves a change of phase from the liquid to the gaseous state of a particular substance. Cavitation creates small high-energy liquid bubbles, which generate supersonic microjets when their natural collapse is impeded because the bubble is collapsing next to a surface. Cavitation is very repeatable, allowing the size, force and direction of the microjet to be controlled as required. NanoSpire cavitation nanofabrication technology offers a new tool for research, product development and consulting efforts in the field of manufacture, fabrication and applications for nanotechnology and nanomaterials. Product development of fabrication tools for others in the field of nanotechnology will also benefit from this new technology. Examples of the several markets and applications include membrane/sensor area, (healthcare, automotive, aerospace, etc), fuel cells, semiconductors, MEMS/NEMS, biotech, microfluidics, microsurgery markets and many others.
