Abstract:
Medical Ink Jet Technologies is an Israeli start-up company, focused on the development and integration of proprietary nano-dispensing technology in the medical and clinical laboratory, and on the development of nano-instrumentation for the clinical market. At present the company is comprised of the management team, which has succeeded in constructing a proof-of-concept prototype for determination of analytes in biological fluids. The aim is to produce and market an instrument to carry out conventional clinical laboratory tests. The advantages of this novel technology:
1. Substantial savings in the costs of the clinical laboratory (~80% savings in direct reagent costs, substantial savings in the cost of instrumentation, and reduction in personnel in clinical laboratories)
2. Requires very minimal sample volumes -substantial advantage to the patient
3. Reduction in laboratory space - the system is desktop and has a very small footprint.
4. The chemical reactions used in the system are conventional and thus there will be a reduced regulatory requirement.
A proof-of-concept prototype has been developed and tested as compared to conventional testing methods, with highly encouraging results, both in the accuracy of the results and the ease of operation
