Abstract:
Carigent Therapeutics is a drug delivery company focused on the development and commercialization of innovative medical treatments utilizing its proprietary drug delivery technologies. Spun out of the Saltzman laboratory of biomedical engineering at Yale University, the company is leveraging a deep base of knowledge in the use of biodegradable polymers as well as proprietary surface modification technologies to create novel, nano-sized drug delivery platforms. Its founders include W. Mark Saltzman, Ph.D., chair of Yale’s biomedical engineering department, and represent decades of experience in the use of biodegradable polymers for drug delivery. They believe that Carigent is uniquely positioned to enter the injectables and targeted therapeutics markets with novel products and that the technology allows for a myriad of commercial opportunities by reformulating or improving the safety and efficacy of numerous drugs.
