Abstract:
The Advanced Technology and Manufacturing Center (ATMC), at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth is developing a Micro-Fluidics Center of Excellence to support regional research, development and manufacturing activities in the rapidly growing field of Micro-Fluidics. Our intent is to supplement regional capabilities of both for profit companies and non-profit research and development institutions. Micro-fluidics is the basis for “Lab-on-a Chip” products that will enable rapid and economic environmental and medical analysis. This technology has the potential to place analytical laboratory capability in doctors’ offices, clinics, airports and other public places to improve the health and safety of the public.
