Abstract:
In the present paper we discuss the chemical route to synthesize SmCo5 monodispersed nanoparticles (15nm size) having the saturation magnetization of coated nanoparticles as high as 150 emu/g (which is near to the bulk magnetization value). The mono-dispersivity and crystalline structure were confirmed by TEM and electron diffraction, respectively. The as-synthesized material exhibits coercivity of 330 Oe at 5K. The low value of coercivity can be explained on the basis of strong dipole-dipole interaction between the particles which takes over exchange force between the particles.
