Abstract: Advances in biotechnology and microelectronic systems are providing a great opportunity for the development of new medical diagnostic technologies. These complex technologies require a great deal of coordination between biological and engineering disciplines, which have operated separately in the past. We report the development of a methodology in support of strategic intellectual property (IP) management initiatives in genomic and proteomic microarray technology platforms. This methodology is based on first identifying a core IP landscape framework and then determining a peripheral or specific landscape based on internal technology audits.
