Abstract: This paper offers a perspective into nanotechnology and nanotechnology patents through an analysis and comparison of ten nanotech patents that have been identified as patents that could dramatically impact the development of nanotechnology. As we analyze these top patents, we assess some of the commentary that has raised issues and concerns related to nanotechnology intellectual property. While the sample size is small, the analysis provides an objective glimpse into some of the issues, or non-issues, impacting nanotechnology intellectual property. In conducting our analysis, we have reviewed each of the issued patents and studied their prosecution histories.
