DNA/RNA Purified Single Walled Carbon Nanotubes on Self-Assembled Networks

Carbon Nanotubes (CNT) have attracted a huge interest in the research community to their extraordinary properties. However, the production methods, specially in the case of single walled CNT (SWNCT), also create a high number of impurities such as amorphous carbon. There has been recent reports on the purfication of CNT with synthetic biopolymers. This work presents a novel methodology of purfication based on total genomic RNA that reduces the costs of purifications. Using this route, networks of RNA and CNT are produced. The interaction between the RNA and the CNTs is studied using Atomic Force Microscopy and measuring the electrical properties of the networks. Finally, a discussion of the implications of the production of RNA templated networks for the desing of biosensors is presented.
