Nanotec NI is a world-class centre for the design, fabrication, characterisation and commercial exploitation of nanotechnology, devices and systems. It is a unique partnership between the University of Ulster and Queens University Belfast. It brings together scientists and researchers involved in cutting edge nanoscience research, in a strategic partnership with the local economic development agency, Invest NI, and the business community.

Major research themes include; Nanoelectronics and sensors, Nanomaterials and coatings, Nanoscale surface and interface science and simulation, Molecular self-assembly and Nanoscale biotechnology.

Nanotec NI will actively pursue the commercial opportunities that nanotechnology is opening up, and seek through various business models, including licensing and spin outs, to further develop the economic infrastructure of Northern Ireland.
