 | Interaction of Fluids with Nanomaterials: simulation, theory and experiment

Keywords: fluids, nanomaterials, simulation, experiment
Abstract: As the size of a system is reduced from centimetres to nanometres its physical and chemical properties can change dramatically. Such nanomaterials present many new technological opportunities in medicine, electronics, and engineering, as well as many challenges to the physical sciences. In this lecture we discuss recent examples of the application of molecular simulation to investigate the interaction of fluids with nanostructures (slits (1), nanotubes(2,4), nanopatterned surfaces(3),...), presenting new results for static and dynamic wetting and the role of molecular interactions in determining hydrodynamic boundary conditions.
