Abstract: MolecularDiamond Technologies? (MDT) is an internal technology start-up within ChevronTexaco Technology Ventures, LLC, located in Richmond, California. MDT is engaged in the production, development, and commercialization of a new form of carbon-based nanomaterials called ''higher diamondoids''. MDT?s scientific breakthrough was reported in Science magazine in January 2003 and was named one of the Top Ten Highlights in Material Science in 2002 by C&E News. Like diamonds, higher diamondoids offer great rigidity and strength and their carbon chemistry gives them the potential for precise construction and makes them useful building blocks for nanotechnology-enabled applications. Currently active research and development areas include specialty polymers, diamond nucleation, optical coatings, computer modeling, and numerous material characterization studies. Additional areas of commercial interest include bio-medical, advanced materials, sensors, electronics, energy, and transportation. MDT has a large intellectual property portfolio and is currently producing both higher and lower diamondoids. MDT is actively seeking research and development partners, as well as commercial joint venture and investment partners.
